Dental Bridge

WHAT EXACTLY IS A DENTAL BRIDGE?

A dental bridge fills the gap where teeth are missing by attaching to adjacent anchoring teeth called abutments. Once the bridge is cemented in place (not removable), you function as if you are not missing any natural teeth.

Why Do I need a Dental Bridge?

Teeth were designed to complement each other by distributing the forces of your bite. When teeth are missing, unusual stresses are placed on the remaining teeth, gums and other oral tissues, the adjacent teeth will fall into the space and the opposing tooth will grow out of its socket, since it is unopposed. Your ability to chew and speak normally can be affected. Fortunately, dental bridges and single tooth implants are options for correcting tooth loss.

If you are missing a tooth you should strongly consider having it replaced. Besides the aesthetic disadvantage of missing a tooth, it could also cause structural changes to your mouth and jaw, as well as making it difficult to eat or speak properly.
